Presenter: Jane Miner, Mt. Marty College, Watertown. Using scenes from the musical play 1776, the program will examine John Adams' importance as a founding father and his special relationship with two people: his wife, Abigail, and his friend and rival, Thomas Jefferson.The musical was produced on Broadway in 1969, running for 1,217 performances, and was made into a film of the same name in 1972. The show was nominated for five Tony Awards and won three, including Best Musical.

John Adams Unbound has been organized by the Boston Public Library and the American Library Association Public Programs Office. This traveling exhibition has been made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: great ideas brought to life.
